Soaking UP the Land!

Dena and I just returned from a whirlwind trip to Israel. We went for a wedding but we also went to feel the land, to feel the people, to be with our People.

After Shabbat in Jerusalem, we jumped into a cab and traveled 2 hours to Caesarea to participate in a Hannan Ben Ari Concert at the Caesarea amphitheater. In good Israeli style we ended up getting there 45 minutes after the show was supposed to start and the singer hadn't come out yet :-)!

It was a true taste of Israelicana (the Israel version of Americana). What a special time to be there, with our People beginning to heal from the devastation of the past two years. The energy was literally indescribable. As is the walking in the streets of Jerusalem, Shabbat dinner overlooking the Wall, the people, the smells, the shuk, the holiness, the energy!

It occured to me while reading this week's Torah portion that everything about these Torah portions are taking place in Israel. Our land with all of its complexities is not new, it's as old as time or at least as old as the Torah.

Being in Israel brings the Torah portion to life, brings the diaspora Jewish community to life and brings being a Jew to life in a time that is so complex.

I'm encouraging you to feel this and experience this for yourself. Please join Dena and I on a transformative trip to Israel in March. Luxurious, delicious, real, hands on. Experience everything that Israel is about.

There is no time like the present!

The trip with people from around the USA has a capacity for 400 people and over 260 have already signed up. https://www.landandspirit.org/

What can I do to help you make it happen?

Best wishes for a good Shabbos!
