The community gathered for an unforgettable evening with Maya and Itay Regev and their father, Ilan, who shared their firsthand story of survival after being held captive by Hamas. Through a candid conversation, they reflected on the challenges they faced, the faith that sustained them, and the lessons they carry forward, reminding everyone of the power of hope and resilience.

The evening opened with a VIP reception, where sponsors and guests met Maya and Itay Regev and their father, Ilan. The reception provided an opportunity for brief, personal interaction before the larger community program began.

The main program took place in the sanctuary and opened with welcoming remarks from Rabbi Schusterman, who framed the evening as a chance to listen and bear witness. The Israeli Consul followed with a short address, offering context on the significance of hearing these stories firsthand.

Maya and Itay, joined by their father Ilan, then shared their story in a moderated conversation led by Dena Schusterman. Through a series of questions, they spoke about the events surrounding their kidnapping, their time in captivity, and their eventual release. Ilan shared the perspective of a parent navigating the uncertainty of fighting to bring his children home.

Throughout the conversation, they shared powerful messages that emerged from their experience, including the importance of appreciating every single thing G-d gives us and not taking even the smallest moments for granted.

The evening was one of reflection, resilience, and gratitude, leaving the community with a deeper appreciation for life, and the strength of the human spirit.
